E. F. Weis . . . Becoming a Private Pilot! The Private Pilot license (PPL) qualifies a person to hire act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft carrying passengers and baggage under visual fight rules (VFR - in good weather conditions). If your flying interest is limited to fun flying every now and then, the Private Pilot License is the one that meets your needs. If your goal is to become an Airline Pilot, then you need to proceed to the First Officer Training Program . Pre-entry requirements You can legally start flight training as young as sixteen, the minimum age for issue of the JAA PPL is seventeen years. Any student applying for the PPL must pass a "Class Two Medical". This is a medical check which is carried out by JAA-DCA Medical Examiners and ensures you are medically fit to fly. Wearing glasses is not usually a problem but it needs to be consulted with an Aviation Medical Examiner. . .
Ground Theory Choose 1 of the following 3 types of training system to complete your Theory subjects: 2)Part Time Class (Enter) 3)Full Time Class (Enter).
Theory Exams A Student Pilot will be also required to pass the following multiple choice examinations. . Aircraft (General) & Principles of Flight Flight Performance and Planning Aviation Law and Operational Procedures Human Performance and Limitations Navigation & Radio Aids  Meteorology Communication (VFR)
Flight Training
At EPA, you will be assigned your own Flight Instructor, who will remain with you until you complete the PPL Flight Training. Our Flight Instructors assure the personal attention you need at all time. Your Flight Instructor will be responsible both for Pre-flight briefings and flight training. After each flight, you will have a DE-briefing in order to review the advancement made during that lesson. Other schools often assign you to a different flight instructor, which is often considered very destructive during your PPL training.
Students will need to complete a minimum of 45 hours consisting of: - 4 hours aircraft familiarization and level flight
- 4 hours climbing, descending and turning
- 7 hours circuit practicing take-off and landing
At this stage, you may be able to conduct your first Solo - 5 hours circuit and solo consolidation
- 8 hours dual navigation
- 2 hours solo navigation
At this stage you are about to fly Solo Cross Country 5 hours cross country qualification 5 hours instrument flying 5 hours revision exercises
At this stage you are about to take your Skill Test.
Course Cost include :Euro7139.53 (Lm3065) - 42 hrs Dual and solo flight training.
- 35 hrs Pre flight briefings/debriefings
- 3 Hours Flight test including Examiner Fee
- Landing fees - base and non base
- Fuel/insurance
